OUR HISTORY
The Yakuppur family migrated to Turkey from Russia in 1923 Settling in Istanbul, the family initially sold cloth by the meter in markets, and thus commenced their life in the world of textiles.
Their success in the marketplace generated a need to systematize and incorporate their commercial activities.
In 1933 1933 the family opened an 11m2 cloth retail outlet at the Sultanhamam Hacıpolo Han, the centre of commerce and textiles of that era.
In 1946Mr. İbrahim Yakuppur joined the organization and, thanks to his vision, Uğurteks became a wholesale drapery store serving Anatolia.
During the drapery store period, slow steps were taken towards the incorporation of the business and, in 1970, this process resulted in an agreement with one of the largest factories of the era, the Adana-Bossa factory, to sell cloth for shirts.
In 1972 4th-generation Natan Yakuppur completed his education and started working with his father, Mr. İbrahim Yakuppur, and shortly thereafter the volume of growth received a new impetus and rapidly increased.
1986 In 1986, Natan Yakuppur was appointed as the Vice Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors.
One of the milestones in the development of the company was the Bossa Denim dealership opened in 1990.
Natan Yakuppur, thanks to his reliable, honorable personality and commercial honesty, as well as his visionary personality, rapidly attained success in the production of denim. In 199212 million meters of denim were being sold annually.
Having added experience to his visionary character and become an oft-mentioned name in the industry in the years leading up to 2004, Natan Yakuppur established the factory which continues to operate today and took on the duty of serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Through its success, Uğurteks rapidly established its place in the industry. After the brothers, Alper and İlker Yakuppur, representing the family’s 5th generation, started to work with Uğurteks, a greater emphasis has been placed on overseas sales and exports to five of the world’s continents have commenced. Today Uğurteks is the preferred supplier of numerous global brands.
Uğurteks, fortified by its history, experience and principles, is preparing to celebrate the 100th year of its founding in 2023, together with the centenary anniversary of our republic.
